Agriculture presented negative employment balance in August

Only Agriculture presented more layoffs than hiring in August in the result of the General Register of Employed and Unemployed (Caged), released last Friday (21) by the Ministry of Labor. The other sectors of economic activity, such as industry, services, construction and commerce, registered a positive balance in the number of admissions, compared to the number of dismissals.

The expansion of employment in the sector was 66,000 jobs, more than half of the 110,431 new jobs created last month. The seven sectors with a positive result were mineral extraction, manufacturing industry, industrial services of public utility, construction, commerce, services and public administration, says Agência Brasil.

The main subsectors that had a positive balance were teaching, medical and dental services, housing and food, real estate administration, transportation and communications. Proportionally, the highest increase was in construction. With 11 thousand new formal jobs, the sector grew 0.57% compared to July, showing good results in buildings and industrial facilities especially in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais.

On the other hand, the trade sector was boosted by sales in both the retail and wholesale markets. The manufacturing industry recorded high employment in the food, beverage, chemical, mechanical, logging, among others. On the other hand, there were declines in the number of admissions of the rubber and tobacco industry, in clothing and textiles.
