RS: Agricultural export revenues fall 17% in September

The revenue from agribusiness exports in Rio Grande do Sul reached US $ 874 million in September, down 17.3% from the same period last year, the company said. Federation of Agriculture of the State of Rio Grande do Sul (Farsul).

Beef, on the other hand, showed a 12.6% increase in the exported value. The tobacco group also recorded a decrease in sales of 17.2%, as well as forest products, down 11.4%. On the other hand, the cereals group showed an opposite movement, with a high of 11.4%. Almost all of the group’s exports were represented by rice, with 11%. 

Year-to-date, agribusiness in Rio Grande do Sul exported US $ 8.957 billion, a 4.5% increase over the same period in 2017. The sector accounted for 67.3% of the total value exported by the state. The trade balance of the sector was US $ 316 million. China continues to be the main destination of the gaucho product, with 47.9% of the total marketed. Next comes the United States (3.6%) and Slovenia (2.9%).
