Agriculture pulls GDP growth in 2017

Agricultura impulsionou resultados da economia em 2017

By 2017, the Brazil’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) registered growth of 1.0%, reaching R $ 6.6 trillion. The data released today by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) show that this result was boosted by the performance of agriculture, which registered growth of 13% last year.

Among the products of the field, the highlight goes to the production of corn and soybeans, with a harvest increase of 55.5% and 19.4%, respectively.

“Despite the relative lower weight, the record harvest represented the main contribution to the positive result of GDP in the year “, explains, in a note, the National Accounts Coordinator of IBGE, Rebeca Palis.
