Pulp production is up 10%

Brazilian pulp production reached 1.83 billion tons in January, up 10.2% compared to the same period in 2017, according to data from the latest Bulletin of the Brazilian Tree Industry (Ibá).

On paper, there was a small increase in total production, of 1.9%, especially in the tissue segment, which is paper for sanitary purposes, which increased production by 8%. The sector as a whole produced 859 thousand tons of paper, with the sanitary segment accounting for 95 thousand tons and the packaging segment accounting for 469 thousand tons.

The domestic market for wood panels registered a 13.3% advance in its negotiations, totaling 572 thousand m³ sold. The paper segment ended January 2018 with a positive balance of 4.9%, totaling 429 thousand tons traded. Packaging grew 2.1% and sanitary papers, 11.8%.
