The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply (MAPA) announced the suspension of the exports of the slaughterhouses being investigated by the Federal Police in the Carne Fraca operation. Sales are suspended for 11 countries and the European Union, where the requirements for the presence of Salmonella are more specific.

“The Salmonella is common, specially in poultry meat, as it is part of the intestinal flora of these animals. If the meat is cooked or subjected to frying, it does not pose a risk, but the bacteria still face restrictions in certain countries, “said the MAPA.
The frauds were identified in five laboratories – three accredited by the ministry and two of the companies. They are barred from making analyzes until the end of the investigations, and can be definitively de-accredited.
Four BRF industrial plants are under investigation. BRF is one of the major food companies in the world and owner of the brands Sadia, Perdigão and Qualy. Of the units investigated, two are of chicken, one in Rio Verde (GO) another in Carambei (PR), and one of turkeys in Mineiros (GO), besides a feed factory in Chapecó (SC).
