Representatives from the dairy sector met last Friday (09) with members of the Argentine embassy in Brasilia to strengthen relations with the country, aiming at dairy exports and importing cheaper inputs. According to the executive secretary of the Union of Dairy Industry of RS (Sindilat), Darlan Palharini, who was present at the meeting, the objective is to work operationally Mercosur so that Brazil, and specifically the southern states of Brazil, gain competitiveness, promoting improvements in the way of production and advances to reduce costs in milk production.
“We want to work together with the neighboring countries so that, in addition to encouraging competitiveness, we can have better prices for the export of powdered milk and the importation of Argentinean inputs,” Palharini said, noting that the idea is to strengthen the dialogue with the country and take advantage of Argentina’s expertise, which has per capita consumption of dairy products higher than Brazil.
It was agreed that until April, entities will meet again to align practical actions of integration Brazil-Argentina that will have the participation of the Argentine ambassador, the federal deputy Vilson Covatti Filho and representatives of other national and regional entities. Recently, reminds Palharini, similar action was taken with the Uruguayan embassy. According to the representative of Argentina, Javier Dufourquet, agricultural attache of the Embassy, his country also has much to gain from this integration.
Also present at the meeting were the technical assistant of the embassy, Cristian Santiago Rondán, and representatives of the Organization of Brazilian Cooperatives (OCB), the Confederation of Agriculture and Livestock of Brazil (CNA) and the advisory services of Deputy Wilson Covatti Filho.
