Reducing technological inequality in the field is a priority for FAO

It is necessary to reduce technological inequality in the field. This is what warned the representative of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Brazil, Alan Bojanic, in an event in the city of São Paulo last Friday (16).

Representante da FAO pede mais igualdade na evolução tecnológica do campo

According to Bojanic, in Brazil there is a “modern, 4.0, highly productive business agriculture”, but there is also another one with a high technological deficit. “That is not salutary. We need to work so that the entire industry is at the same level in terms of efficiency and access to markets, “he said.

Increasing investment in research as well as strengthening technical assistance and rural extension programs are key measures to improve the framework for technological inclusion in the field.

In addition, Bojanic also called attention to the losses and waste of food, as a sore that harms the fight against hunger. “Loss is what happens in the field, a deregulated machine, bad logistics, and waste is the food that the consumer discards. For both cases, investments in information, communication and knowledge are necessary in order to revert to the situation. These are prominent issues on our agenda. “
