According to the Russian Ministry of Agriculture, sugar production in the country is expected to drop from 6.6 million in 2017/18 to 6.3 million in 2018/19, as the beet processing is expected to reach 45 million tonnes, compared with 51.9 million tonnes in 2017/18.
Despite the 300,000-ton drop in production, supply will remain above domestic demand, with Russia accredited for another year of export.
