Technology indicates best time to plant rice and beans

New software promises to help farmers and indicate the best time to plant rice and beans in the face of climate instabilities. Available by Embrapa, infoCULT consults by state and by municipality, cultivated localities and months and dates of sowing with less risk of losses in the field, due to the decrease of rainfall.

According to information from Embrapa, in total, information is provided for the cultivation of rainfed rice in seven Brazilian states; for first-crop beans in 13 states; and for second crop beans in nine states.

The software seeks to simplify the set of information present in the Climate Risk Zoning and published on the website of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MPLS) and also developed by the Research Company. The data series for rice and bean cultivation systems were grouped and transformed from text to tables to facilitate visualization of planting periods and locations, combined with information on plant cycles and different types of soil.

Embrapa has made available a video with more information about the technology. Look on here
