When attending an event in Lucas do Rio Verde, Mato Grosso, the Minister of Agriculture, Blairo Maggi, defended the use of good practices in agricultural production. According to him, the Country may even “double agricultural production without using new deforestation areas, something very complicated to do since our environmental legislation is quite tough.”
He also pointed out that “The crop-livestock symbiosis is the great opportunity that Brazil has to grow in agriculture”.
Regarding the recovery of degraded areas, Maggi said that the results obtained with the areas previously used in livestock farming, which are currently harvested with crops, “is the best of the worlds, when measuring emissions of greenhouse gases and the commitments that Brazil took on the preservation of the planet’s environment. “
