During the event “The Energy Planning of the vehicular matrix of Brazil until 2030”, the president of DATAGRO Consultoria, Plinio Nastari spoke about the advances in technologies for electric cars. Nastari, who is also a member of the National Energy Policy Council (CNPE), spoke about the divergences between gas-powered electric cars and the preservation of the environment.
“Electric battery-powered vehicles and gas-powered hybrids have charmed the world, but we need to consider several aspects before we consider them economically viable and environmentally efficient,” he said.
For the CNPE member, the need for investments in infrastructure to guarantee power distribution networks at recharging stations, and the low supply of lithium puts the 100% electric car in the limelight.
The executive of DATAGRO points out that Brazil has in its hands a modern and efficient option for electric models: the flex hybrid car and, in the near future, fuel cell powered cars.
“I talked to engineers at Nissan Brazil and they said that this electric cell-powered ethanol car could go into production in four or five years, provided there were government incentives for it,” Nastari said.
