The last week was marked by the rains observed in the main maize producing regions of Brazil. According to Somar Meteorologia, the highest volumes were observed in the crops of Mato Grosso, Goiás, Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and some areas of MATOPIBA.
Between the 23rd and 25th March cumulative rainfall exceeded 100mm – which corresponds to values above the average for the period. These conditions caused the soil moisture to reach 70%, with the exception, only, of western Mato Grosso do Sul that has been registering low volumes of rainfall.
In relation to maize In the first harvest, the rains of the last weekend in Rio Grande do Sul were to disturb the harvest works, especially in the north-central part of the state, on the other hand, it took moisture to the fields of the South and Campanha, helping in the stage of grain filling that had been suffering from lack of water year alone.
