In Russia, the beet planting season began one week late from the start of these activities a year ago. The conditions for planting remain favorable, with soil moisture indexes similar to those of the same period last year.
The area planted with beet for the 2018/19 crop is expected to be slightly lower, around 1.095 million hectares, against 1.198 million registered in 2017/18.
