FAO food price index up 1.1% in March

The Food Price Index of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) increased by 1.1% in March compared to February, reaching an average of 172.8 points. 

With regard to the same period of 2017, the indicator advanced 0.7%. 

According to the FAO, the rise in the index was driven by the appreciation in corn, wheat and dairy prices. On the other hand, sugar prices fell and meat prices were stable.
