The president of the Parliamentary Front of Agriculture (FPA), Ms. Tereza Cristina (DEM-MS), was present this Wednesday (11), in the launching of the Institutional Agenda of Cooperativism 2018, in a ceremony held in Brasília (DF). For her, cooperativism, the fruit of relationships based on trust and collaboration, is vital for the agricultural sector, which accounts for 40% of all cooperatives in Brazil. “Today, cooperatives have a strong role in the economic and social growth of the country with enormous representation in the National Congress. For the countryside, they are also the engine of progress, “said the MP at the solemnity.
On the occasion, the president of the Organization of Brazilian Cooperatives (OCB), Márcio Lopes de Freitas, thanked the constant partnership with the FPA, which represents the sector that supports the country’s economy. He greeted President Tereza Cristina on behalf of all women which make up the parliament. “This partnership with the Three Powers, especially in the Legislature, allows cooperativism to continue on the road to development,” said Márcio Lopes.
One of the major advances made in 2017 by working together with the FPA and the Legislature, according to the president of the OCB, was the approval of PLP 100, authored by Deputy Domingos Sávio (PSDB-MG), a member of the FPA. For the deputy, the law contributed to strengthen cooperativism. “It was six years of struggle until I approved of this proposal. In the end, the conquest directly benefited local governments, cooperatives and Brazilian citizens, “said Domingos Sávio.
As President of the Parliamentary Front of Cooperativism, Deputy Osmar Serraglio (MDB-PR) reinforced the role of social inclusion in the sector. “Cooperativism is a result. It promotes opportunity, generates income and sustainable development, “said Serraglio. In his speech, the deputy, who is the coordinator of the FPA’s Property and Minorities Law Commission, pointed out that in 2017 alone there were 979 legislative proposals accompanied by the Front, with more than 400 having a positive impact on Brazilian cooperatives.
Present at the ceremony, Senator Valdir Raupp (MDB-RO), the FPA’s political coordinator in the Senate, said that the sector has expanded in an expansive way in Brazil. “Only in my state (Rondônia), there are already more than 180 thousand members of the system, especially in credit unions. I am following closely all the agendas of the sector that demonstrates each year its strength in the field and in several areas, such as financial, health and education, “he said.
At the end of the event, the President of the Republic Michel Temer reiterated that the cooperatives are the result of joint work. “Cooperativism is trust. I hope Brazil will become a great cooperative in which everyone cooperates with each other. ” Funrural, Temer quoted, is an example of such collaborative and harmonious work among powers. “Guided by the dialogue we managed to arrive at the expected result, which at first was not possible,” said the president.
Fear further complimented that we should be optimistic about Brazil recovering from an economic and institutional crisis with visible signs of improvement. For the president, this recovery is thanks to the activity of the agricultural sector. “Inflation is falling, interest rates are dropping. We are recovering jobs, we are recovering economy thanks, I must say, the activity of agribusiness, “he concluded.
