The harvest of the 2017/18 soybean crop in Brazil reached 86% of the area planted, considering the date of April 13, against 81% of the previous week, according to data from the DATAGRO.
According to DATAGRO grain analyst Flávio Roberto de França Júnior, the pace of harvesting of the oilseed crop is slightly slower compared to the 87% registered in the same period of 2017, although it is at the same level as the normal average of the last five seasons. “The week has been drier in practically all the producing regions,” France says.
Corn
In the case of the first corn crop, the harvest reached 80% of the area sown, a moderate increase compared to the percentage of 70% of the previous week. “The advance was not only greater because the producers are giving preference to finalize the soybean harvest,” emphasizes França Júnior.
Meanwhile, according to the analyst, the pace of crop withdrawal continues behind the 88% registered in the same period of 2017, and also about 85% of the normal average of the last five seasons.
