The Inflation of Production Costs Index (IICP) and the Price Inflation Index Received by Rural Producers (IIPR) registered inflation in the month of March. IIPR had a strong appreciation, reaching 5.83%, while the IICP reached 1.21%. The data were released by the Economic Adviser of the Farsul System, on Wednesday (18).
Maize was the main responsible for the increase of the IIPR, with a growth of 13%, together with the soy that had an increase of 8% in its price. The result boosted the 12-month accumulated by 3.45%, the first positive result after 14 consecutive months of decline. Farsul System economist Danielle Guimarães recalls, however, that the long downturn reduces the impact of the increase. “The increase in March was significant, but the base is weak. We have had more than a year of falling, what happens is a recovery of prices, not a growth, “he explains.
In IICP, March has the second month of high, marking 1.21%. The result was pulled by fertilizers influenced by the exchange rate. As in the IIPR, the IICP also had growth (0.24%) in the accumulated 12 months, after 14 low. Maize again was the main offender, increasing 0.5%. The other crops follow the fall trajectory.
