The bill of law (PL 4131/15) was approved in the National Integration, Regional Development and Amazonian Commission of the Chamber of Deputies, which grants fiscal incentive for rural producers of the Legal Amazon and Cerrado that preserve native forest area above that demanded by law.
According to informed the Agência Câmara de Notícias, the resources will be paid with money from the National Forest Development Fund (FNDF), which is managed by the Brazilian Forest Service, linked to the Ministry of Environment. Currently, funds from the fund to promote the development of sustainable forest-based activities in Brazil and to promote technological innovation in the sector can only be used for projects of public bodies and entities or private non-profit entities.
By the author Deputy Augusto Carvalho (SD-DF), the approved PL amends Law 11284/06, which deals with the FNDF, to include the possibility of direct payment to rural producers. The text approved does not specify the amount to be paid to producers.
