Healthy food, science and education issue

What are healthy foods? This is the new magic word of agribusiness of the future. Healthy, fresh, natural.

And to know what is safe, legal and natural, it is important to use, for example, the ITAL – Food Technology Institute – Campinas. An official research institution, linked to the Department of Agriculture of the state of São Paulo.

Many myths are launched in this struggle for consumer perceptions, such as the association of products processed as malefics, on principle, and even labeled ultraprocessed. On the other hand, a tablet of natural and fresh, pass a perception of being, on the contrary, healthy and safe.

Industry indicators show a drop in the consumption of soft drinks, chewing gum and sweets, for example, 20% by 2022, according to the consultancy’s study Euromonitor. Analysts attribute to the excess of industrialized the increase in overweight, where statistics reveal that by 2022 we will have 22% of overweight Brazilians.

But, we love pursuing easy solutions to complex problems and mainly consumer education problems, far above the origin of products in which today the industry itself offers safe and healthy diets with less sugar, salt, fats, and excesses occur within. of our homes.

Brazilian supermarkets currently have the RAMA – Food Tracking and Monitoring Program, ensuring the health of the vegetables from the origin.

Undoubtedly, and to be clear, it is not enough to be from the backyard or natural to be safe and legal. It is time for consciousness to separate reality from illusion, and thus, food will be more and more education.
