The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) estimates that the area planted to soybeans in Uruguay in the 2018/19 crop is expected to be at a level similar to that recorded in the previous cycle, standing at around 1.2 million hectares.
According to the department, the dry climate that marked the 2017/18 season still prevails in the country, which impacts on planting estimates.
In addition, according to the agency, considering the projection of average productivity of 2.5 tons per hectare, production should reach 3 million tons.
