Rural credit contracting reaches R $ 117.6 billion in the 2017/18 harvest

Medium and large farmers hired R $ 117.6 billion in rural credit in the 2017/18 harvest in the corresponding period of July 2017 to April this year. According to information from the Ministry of Agriculture, 62.4% of the total offered by the government and indicates an increase of 13.2% in relation to the contracting made in the previous cycle.

Banks released R $ 93.4 billion (+ 10%) for costing operations (inputs, such as fertilizers, seeds and agricultural pesticides), commercialization and industrialization, and R $ 24.2 billion (+ 28%) for investments.

Loans for the Technological Innovation in Rural Property Program (Inovagro) reached R $ 830 million, an increase of 132.3%. Applications in the Program for Construction and Expansion of Warehouses (PCA) increased 91%, totaling R $ 579 million. The Program for Reducing Emissions of Greenhouse Gases in Agriculture (ABC Program) increased by 50.5%, jumping from R $ 827 million to R $ 1.2 billion.

Still in relation to sources of financing for production, a significant part was controlled resources (interest at favorable rates), representing R $ 85.8 billion (+ 73%). Resources at free (market) rates reached R $ 31.7 billion (52.4%).
