The summer grain harvest in Rio Grande do Sul should be completed in the next few days. According to Emater-RS information, few areas remain to be harvested. In the case of rice, only 1% of the area remains. For soybeans and corn, 2% of the areas need to be harvested.

Emater-RS highlights the good results of the rice harvest, with productivity above 7.5 tonnes per hectare. What continues to worry producers is the value of the rice sack, which is below the market and prevents farmers from investing in crops.
In the corn crop, there are practically the cultivated crops of the second planting. The productivity of the areas already harvested remains around 105 bags per hectare, of good quality. The lack of rainfall is damaging the development of the crop in the different stages of the current season and may reduce the yield of the areas not harvested in the second planting. The commercialization reaches approximately 70% of the harvest in progress. Business is stable, with producers awaiting better definition of the market and waiting for the result of the development of the Brazilian safrinha and the conditions of the American harvest.
Soy is also practically all harvested in the RS, leaving only part of the crops in the South, Campos de Cima da Serra and Northwest Frontier regions. Productivity is close to three tons per hectare, obtained within the expected, but with great variation between crops and planting season.
