The Agriculture, Livestock, Food Supply and Rural Development Committee of the Chamber of Deputies approved on Wednesday (16) the Bill 5651/16, which suspends the collection of Cofins and PIS / Pasep on sales of live poultry and pigs carried out by companies and agricultural cooperatives for rural producers (legal or physical).
According to the Agência Câmara de Notícias, the project received a favorable opinion from Congressman Jerônimo Goergen (PP-RS). The proposal amends Law 12.350 / 10. The norm already provides exemption of the two taxes in the sales of live animals made by cooperatives and agricultural companies, but only for companies that process animal meat.
Goergen pointed out the “importance and opportunity” of the proposal. He recalled that Brazil is the fourth largest producer and exporter of pork in the world and the third largest in poultry.
