The Government of Santa Catarina announced the Plant Health Defense Policy. Elaborated jointly with the productive sector, the measure aims to regulate actions to protect plant production in the state, in harmony with national and international guidelines.
According to the state government, the policy aims to preserve plant health and food production, institute phytosanitary measures to ensure the sanity of vegetables, their products and by-products, define roles and competencies; to establish sanctions and penalties, to encourage the effective participation of the society of Santa Catarina in actions for plant health.
The proposal for Plant Health Defense Policy was sent to the Legislative Assembly on May 8 and awaits the result of the vote in plenary.
