Strike of the truck drivers enters the third day at risk of shortages

The truckers strike follows for the third day in a row, with protests taking place in at least 11 states. In the morning of this Wednesday (23), the paralyzes are observed in major highways of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso, among others. The main claim of the sector is the increase in diesel prices, which rose 8%.

Due to the protest, consumers in Rio de Janeiro already face fuel shortages. The movement of agricultural cargo may also be affected. According to Brazilian Association of Animal Proteins (ABPA), the blocks prevent the transport of live poultry and pigs, feed and refrigerated cargo destined to the supply of gondolas in Brazil or for exports.

“Continuing this scenario, there is a risk of a lack of products for the Brazilian consumer. Animals may die in the field due to lack of inputs. We already have reports of production units with suspended slaughtering shifts “, notes the entity.

Despite pointing out the risks of the protest, the organization says it supports the demonstrations of the truck drivers, but understands that “preventing the continuity of production could have serious consequences for the whole country.”

The truckers strike continues even after the announcement by Petrobras, which reduced the price of diesel by 1.54% on Wednesday.
