The truckers strike arrives on the fifth day this Friday (25). Demonstrations are registered in 20 states even after industry and government officials have tried to reach an agreement late yesterday (24).

Leaders of the truck sector were meeting with ministers Eliseu Padilha (Civil House), Carlos Marun (Secretary of Government), Eduardo Guardia (Fazenda) and Valter Casimiro (Transport) to try to suspend demonstrations throughout the country.

Among the various issues discussed, the government assumed, among other things, to zero the rate of the Contribution of Intervention in the Economic Domain (Cide) in 2018 on diesel, to maintain a reduction of around 10% in the value of diesel in the refinery in the next 30 days (maintaining the price at the refinery at R $ 2.10 per liter), and guarantee possible adjustments in fuel prices at the refinery with a minimum period of 30 days.

However, not all entities that represent the category, such as the Brazilian Association of Truck Drivers (Abcam) and the National Union of Truck Drivers accepted the proposals presented, and therefore, the demonstrations follow this morning.

Due to the protest of the truck drivers, there is already shortage of several products, such as food and fuel. In agriculture, the losses amount to hundreds of millions of Reais, in actual costs, and much more than that, in loss of image and credibility with clients in the domestic and foreign markets.
