Exports of agribusiness grow 6% in the first four months

From January to April this year, agribusiness exports grew by 6% compared to the same period in 2017. On the other hand, in the same period, prices in dollars fell by 6%, according to data from the Center for Advanced Studies in Applied Economics (Cepea).

Cepea notes that revenues grew 11% in the first four months of the year. The accumulated income from agribusiness exports was US $ 30 billion, representing more than 40% of the country’s total exports.

According to Cepea, the good result in volume in the first four months was linked to the increase in shipments of most agribusiness products, especially corn, whose quantity exported more than doubled between the first four months of 2017 and the same period of 2018. Average dollar values fell a bit, but some products got higher prices, such as forestry, fruits, orange juice, cotton, bran and soybeans.
