Exports from Paraná have the worst performance in four years

Total exports from Paraná totaled US $ 1.372 billion in September. The result indicates a decrease of 11% in relation to the value reached in the same month of 2017 and a decrease of 22% in comparison with August of this year, being thus the worst result recorded in the last four years, informs the Federation of Industries of Paraná (Fiep ).

With important participation in the state’s trade balance, agricultural products also performed less than expected in September. This is the case of meats, whose sales fell 9.5% compared to last year and cereals, down 65%.

On the other hand, there was an increase in timber shipments. The product was the second most sold by the state, with 18% increase compared to 2017.

“There are several factors that can explain this poor outcome. One of them is the reduction of exports to Argentina, one of the main commercial partners of Paraná products. Just this year were more than 20% drop in sales there. The moment is to follow if this downward trend will remain in the coming months, “says Fiume economist Evânio Felippe.
