Government announces measures to reduce bureaucratic international agricultural trade

In order to facilitate agricultural trade with other countries, the Minister of Agriculture, Blairo Maggi, signed a standard that exempts the requirement of a Phytosanitary Certificate for imports in Integrated Control Areas (ACI) in the scope of Mercosur. The term was signed during the opening of the 1st National Meeting of the International Agricultural Surveillance System (Vigiagro)

According to the ministry, the measure is going to reduce bureaucracy of inspection and promote speed of cargo flows at important agricultural frontiers such as Foz do Iguaçu and Santa Helena (PR), Uruguaiana and São Borja (RS) and Dionísio Cerqueira (SC).

Also on the occasion, a proposal was made for a Joint Normative Ruling between the MPLS, Federal Revenue and National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa), which establishes Local Trade Facilitation Committees (COLFACS) linked to the National Committee for Trade Facilitation (Confac) . The Committee is a member of the Foreign Trade Chamber (Camex) and was created in 2016.

Blairo Maggi took advantage of the meeting to remember the more than a thousand changes made by the portfolio, with the aim of debureaucratizing processes. “It’s not that there is no charge, but many are resolved. And when you do, it frees the productive sector to do what is its essence, to generate wealth instead of wasting time with bureaucracy. “
