Argentina’s crop failure benefits Brazilian soybean meal

The soybean meal in Brazil can gain space with the fall in the harvest of Argentina. By-product exports increased by 352% between January and March this year compared to 2017, representing a total of 118,500 tonnes, according to information from the Federation of Agriculture and Livestock of Mato Grosso do Sul (Famasul).

In the last three years, the main buyers of the processed product are Thailand, Indonesia and the Netherlands. The bran is used in the production of animal feed, representing 30% of its composition.

“The collapse of the Argentine harvest has brought an opportunity for export not only of the grain of Mato Grosso do Sul, but also of the bran, the product gains competitiveness at this moment, “says the technician of the Famasul Economics Department, Luiz Gama. In the period analyzed, exports generated revenues of US $ 45 million, up 370% compared to the same period last year.
