BRF re-exports chicken meat to Europe

The Ministry of Agriculture announced the withdrawal of the suspension of shipments of BRF refrigerators to the European Union. The announcement was made by Minister Blairo Maggi during a meeting with representatives of the Catarinense Parliamentary Forum, in Brasília, on Tuesday (17).

From now on, only commercial negotiations remain to be finalized so that shipments to the bloc begin. According to the Secretary of State for Agriculture and Fisheries, Airton Spies, the return of exports to the European Union is crucial for Santa Catarina. “Chicken is our main item on the export agenda and Europe is the market that buys products with high added value. The continent accounts for 15.2% of Santa Catarina’s exports of chicken meat, with revenues of US $ 364.9 million in 2017, “he says.

In Santa Catarina, three BRF plants were prevented from selling the product to the European Union and will now be accredited again, located in the municipalities of Concórdia, Chapecó and Capinzal. Estimates are that the state has stopped exporting more than three thousand tons in the last month, a loss that reaches US $ 9 million.
