Central-South: Rains in the cane plantations reach the lowest volume of the last 30 years

In March, the rains in the main sugarcane plantations of the Center-South region were below the average of the last 30 years. According to the climate monitoring done by DATAGRO Consulting, it rained 135.7 mm in average, index 15.0% below the normal climatological. Only two states received rains above average: Paraná with 170.4 mm and Mato Grosso do Sul with 193.7 mm.

According to DATAGRO, April is a key month for the conditions of the sugarcane plantation that will be harvested at the end of the harvest, as well distributed rains are essences for the good physiological development of the crops.

Until the 05 of this month, it rained 23.1 mm in average in the sugarcane plantations of the Center-South, 71.8% less than expected for the whole month. The precipitations were concentrated in some regions of São Paulo, Triangulo Mineiro, Southeast of Mato Grosso and Southeast of Goiás.

According to the weather forecast, few rains are expected to occur until April 18 in Goiás, Minas Gerais and Mato Grosso, as well as part of the State of São Paulo. For the other regions of the Center-South, there is no expectation of rainfall in sugarcane plantations.
