The Confederation of Agriculture and Livestock of Brazil (CNA) wants to extend the term to the producer to join the Rural Environmental Registry (CAR). The entity will ask the federal government for regularization until December 31 of this year. Currently, the producer has until May 31 to register.
The theme was discussed during a meeting of the CNM’s National Environment Commission held last Thursday (26) in Brasilia. According to the Confederation’s Sustainability Coordinator, Nelson Ananias, the law provided for an extension of the deadline for two years, with the first period winning last December.
“The CNA believes that the date does not meet the needs of the producer. This process is very important, but it is still under development in some Brazilian states, “Nelson said in a note.
He further explained that the number of accessions to CAR is significant, but the law must guarantee the right of all producers. “As long as you do not have 100% of the registered rural properties, we will exercise our right under the law and ask for an extension of the deadline.”
In December 2017, the CNA sent an official letter to the Minister of the Civil House, Eliseu Padilha, asking for the extension for the same month of the following year, but the government signed a decree postponing for the month of May 2018.
