On June 06, the National Supply Company (Conab) will hold another auction to contract the removal of 66.9 thousand tons of maize from public stocks of the government to supply the Counter Sales Program (ProVB), which meets to small breeders who use grain in animal feed.
In this operation, ten states of the North and Northeast regions will receive corn. Most will leave warehouses in Mato Grosso (53 thousand tons). The remainder, about 14,000 t, will be removed from Piauí.
The amount distributed among the states that will receive corn will be 13.3 thousand tons for Rio Grande do Norte, 21.9 thousand tons for Ceará, 8.9 thousand tons for Paraíba, 3 thousand tons for Espírito Santo, 2.9 thousand tons for Alagoas, 4.7 thousand tons for Pernambuco, 1,7 thousand tons for Amazonas, 1,7 thousand tons for Goiás, 1,4 thousand tons for Maranhão and 600 tons for Acre.
The main objective of ProVB is to enable small farmers’ access to agricultural products under Conab’s management through direct sales at prices compatible with those practiced in the local wholesale markets.
