Even with diesel reduction, truckers strike continues

The truckers’ strike enters the fourth day and with even greater consequences for various sectors of the country. Demonstrations against recent increases in the price of diesel take place in at least 15 Brazilian states.

The stoppages on the country’s main highways happen even after the government zeroed in the tax on diesel for six months. In addition, Petrobras has reduced its fuel price by 10% for the next 15 days.

To try to end the impasse, the government must begin new negotiations with truck drivers today (24).

The demonstrations of the truck drivers already affect the supply of some basic items, such as fuel, medicines and even retail food at the national level
