Exports of the tree sector grow 31% in 2018

Exports of forest products registered growth of of 31.3% in the first seven months of the year. Foreign sales were mainly driven by (+ 40.7%), paper (+ 4.6%) and wood panels (+ 6.7%), with R $ 6.3 billion marketed, according to the Brazilian Tree Industry (Ibá).

During the same period, the trade balance of the sector grew 34.0%, reaching R $ 5.6 billion. The forest sector also increased its share of the agribusiness trade balance, accounting for 10.6%.

According to Ibá, Brazil’s main trading partner in this segment continues to be China, which increased the acquisition of the product by 40.2%, in values, in the accumulated of the year. Next are Europe (+ 44.0%) and North America (+ 37.4%).
