FPA works to vote on environmental licensing this week

During a meeting on Tuesday (10), the president of the Parliamentary Front of Agriculture (FPA), Congresswoman Tereza Cristina (DEM-MS), said that the task force to vote, this week, the environmental licensing project in the House of Representatives continues. Parliamentarians work closely with the leaders of each party to articulate inclusion in the voting list as soon as possible by the president of the House, Rodrigo Maia (DEM).

In a meeting with the FPA on March 13, Maia had already indicated that the text had agreement and the possibility of appreciating the matter in early April. For the president of the FPA, the urgency of a new legal framework for licensing in Brazil is not only for the agricultural sector but for the country’s economic and social development. “A new legislation will guarantee legal certainty and bureaucracy of the process. It is necessary to reduce the costs to farmers and entrepreneurs and to unlock the investments for the Country, “she said.

At the time, the president also reiterated that the points still without consensus should be voted in plenary in a democratic way. “The debate about the issue with all the bodies involved in the process has already been made. Now it is to resolve the rest by vote, “he added. According to FPA vice president, Deputy Alceu Moreira (MDB-RS), the creation of a federal law will bring legal security and beacon the process of environmental licensing in all spheres: federal, state and municipal.

The text that will be voted, according to the coordinator of Environment of the FPA, deputy Valdir Colatto (MDB-SC), always allied environmental preservation with development. “We have to be balanced in the proposals presented. One does not exclude the other. Preservation will be maintained. All licenses, even those that will be exempted, already obey or will comply with current environmental regulations, “said the deputy.
