In a meeting held at the Federation of Agriculture and Livestock of Goiás (Faeg), farmers discussed actions to effectively meet the sanitary vacuum of the beans. The proposal sowing in the Center-South region of the State from October 6 to June 15 each year, while in the Center-North, the proposed calendar runs from October 21 to June 30.
“This decision was based on the availability of cultivars of earlier cycle in the state, which allow that even if planted at the end of the proposed window, the areas are still harvested before the arrival of the void,” says the technical consultant of the Association of Soybean Producers and Maize from Goiás (Aprosoja-GO) and analyst of the Institute for the Strengthening of Goiás Agropecuaria (IFAG), Cristiano Palavro. Now the proposal goes to the analysis of the Goian Agricultural Defense Agency (Agrodefesa) and can be implemented with validity for this year.
Established by Normative Instruction No. 02/2014 of Agrodefesa, the sanitary emptiness of beans is aimed at mitigating productive risks related to the presence of the Golden Mosaic Virus in the bean, a disease transmitted by the Mosca Branca pest. “Through this norm some important measures are established to reduce the presence of the disease and its vector, such as the elimination of cultural remains, management of tigueras and a period of the year, the sanitary emptiness, without the presence of live bean plants in the plantations “, Explains Palavro.
