Government publishes minimum prices for coffee, orange and wheat

The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA) has announced new minimum prices for the Arabica and conilon, orange, wheat and wheat seed crops of the 2018/2019 crop. The measure was published in the Official Gazette (DOU) on Wednesday (4).

The minimum price for the 60 kg bag of Arabica coffee, type 6, rose 2.46%, from R $ 333.03 in 2017/18 to R $ 341.21 in 2018/19. Already the coffee conilon, type 7, fell 9.57%, from R $ 223.59 to R $ 202.19 a bag. These prices will be valid from April 2018 until March 2019. 

The 40.8 kg orange box had the lowest price readjusted for the whole of Brazil in 7.49%, going from R $ 12.28 to R $ 13.20. The period runs from July 2018 to June 2019.

The minimum price of wheat grain for the Southern Region, bread type, went from R $ 37.26 to R $ 36.17. The wheat seed was also readjusted downwards, from R $ 1.48 to R $ 1.44 per kilo. The values ​​apply from July this year to June 2019.

The deputy director of the Coffee and Agroenergy of the Secretariat of Agricultural Policy of the MPLS, Sílvio Farnese said, in a statement, “These guarantee prices aim to sustain the producer’s revenue. Therefore, they were calculated on the basis of variable costs of production in order to support the expenses of the producer in his activities “
