The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply (MAPA) announced the release of 384 million for the Rural Insurance Premium Grant Program (PSR). According to the folder, the resources will be offered between the months of March and November of this year and will allow to subsidize the contracting of approximately 70 thousand policies, covering more than 50 crops.

Of the amount offered, R $ 115 million will be used for the procurement of policies for safflower corn, wheat and other winter grains, R $ 175 million for summer grains (soybeans, corn, rice, beans and other grains), R $ 72 million for fruits, R $ 1 million for livestock insurance and R $ 21 million for other crops.
Another R $ 175 million will be used for summer grains, R $ 20 million will be used exclusively for the subsidy of rural insurance products of the type “agricultural income”, better known as “income insurance”. Another R $ 5 million will be allocated to a pilot insurance project involving the direct participation of private companies.
The proposed model consists in promoting the contracting of the insurance by the rural producer, taking into account the participation of a private agent with a common interest in the object to be insured. In this model, the payment of the insurance premium amount is shared between the producer, the private agent and the government (grant). In addition, R $ 15 million will be released, still in the first half, so that the producer who contracts the anticipated cost of the harvest can also purchase his policy with the support of the PSR.
