Inspection indicates improvement in the control of meat origin in Pará

An audit by the Federal Public Ministry (MPF) highlights the improvement in the control of the origin of the raw material of the main companies that sell cattle, beef or leather cattle produced in Pará. The information was disclosed on the website of Agência Brasil.

Provisions to try to eliminate from the market products from invaded public lands or from areas where illegal deforestation or slave labor were found are provided for in the TACs signed with the Federal Public Ministry (MPF) as of 2009 , aiming at containing deforestation and land grabbing in the state.

According to the MPF, at the time of signing the TACs, the slaughterhouses did not suffer any control, which favored the acquisition of cattle raised in areas with socio-environmental irregularities.

The audits in 38 units of 26 client companies in the agricultural sector of Pará state indicate that, even among the largest, the suspect indexes of irregular products were scarcely less than 13%.
