In Iran, sugar production has already reached 1.95 million tonnes by February, equivalent to 85% of domestic demand, compared to 1.65 million tonnes in 2016/17. The Iranian government hopes to achieve self-sufficiency in sugar production in the next 2 to 3 years as new factories come on stream.
