The scenario of maize prices for the 2017/18 crop in Mato Grosso has been favorable in recent months. The evaluation is made by the Institute of Mato Grosso do Economia Agropecuária (Imea). According to the institute, the parity for Jul / 18, which indicates the possible price paid for maize exports in the state, reached the highest level in the last week, averaging R $ 21.06 / sc.
Besides that, the forward price for the most liquid contract, with delivery in Jul / 18 and payment in Aug / 18, closed the week at an average of R $ 20.10 / sc. Given this scenario, since Mar / 18, prices have presented values above the minimum price of R $ 16.71 / sc stipulated by Conab for the State.
According to the Imea, is linked both to the increase in the dollar and to the prices in Chicago after the Argentine production drop. However, in the coming months, the price scenario will depend mainly on the definition of areas and climatic behavior in the US crop, in conjunction with the beginning of the second harvest crop in Brazil.
