PL of the new environmental licensing still lacks consensus

The coordinator of the Environment Committee of the Parliamentary Front of Agriculture (FPA), Deputy Valdir Colatto, said on Thursday (22) in Brasilia (DF) that there are still points without consensus in the text of environmental licensing that must obey to democracy and to be solved through the discussion in the Brazilian parliament and recalled all the discussions they had about the subject in order to arrive at a good proposal, in 80%, for both sides.

“Important energy works for the country have been awaiting the issuance of an environmental license for 10, 15 years since there is not a single rule defined by force of law. This blocks our development. Nobody wants to relax any environmental requirement. On the contrary. We want to standardize procedures to ensure legal security, continuous preservation of the environment and make the country walk, “said Colatto.

For the president of the FPA, Ms. Tereza Cristina, a new legal framework for environmental licensing is not only for the agricultural sector, it is for Brazil. “This issue influences all the infrastructure and logistics that we have. The country can not afford to live in arrears, “said the president.
