The Ceagesp Price Index ended February with a 1.77% increase. In the first two months of the year, the indicator accumulated a high of 0.38%. Fruits, vegetables and the sector of several registered highs. Vegetables and fish showed a decrease in prices.
Historically, the months of January and February recorded sharp increases in prices mainly due to excessive rains and high temperatures. This year there were no severe losses in production and the price increases were reasonable. In March, prices are expected to stabilize, which are expected to fall more sharply in early April alone. In February, the vegetable sector recorded a drop of 1.15% and the fishery fell by 3.02%. On the other hand, the vegetables category increased 3.25% and the fruit category increased 3.57%.
The volume traded in the warehouse of São Paulo registered a reduction of 5.89% in February in the annual comparison. 255,166 tons were traded in February this year against 271,149 traded in the same period last year. In the two-month period, 533,051 tons were traded in 2018, compared to 543,079 traded in the first two months of 2017. This accumulated 1.85%.
