Producers can earn credit line to renegotiate debts with banks

A proposal from the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) study to create uspecial credit line to renegotiate debts with financial institutions. According to information from the Confederation of Agriculture and Livestock of Brazil (CNA), the proposal should be evaluated in the coming weeks, after going through adjustments.

According to the CNA, the aim of the line is to extend the repayment period for producers who have had their payment capacity impacted due to weather problems, minimum prices or market contingencies. The expectation is that the renegotiation under the new conditions can already be made from July, within the next Plan Safra. One of the productive chains that is most mobilized by the approval of the renegotiation proposal is the rhizicultura.

“There are a large number of rice growers who are depending on that stretch. The rice problem is complex and involves a structural issue. This justifies our request for a compatible term and also an interest that does not burden both a sector that is with a very large lack of income, “said the vice president of Federarroz, Alexandre Velho.
