Farmers in Rio Grande do Sul have already harvested 23.6% of the area planted with rice for the 2017/18 harvest. According to information provided by the Rio Grande do Sul Rice Institute (Irga), 253,200 hectares of 1,074,254 has been sown. Productivity is 8,158 kg / ha.
Among the main producing regions of the State, the Fronteira Oeste is the one that has the most advanced works, with 125,839 ha (39,4%) of harvested area, productivity of 8,408 kg / ha, followed by the Regional Coastal Forests with 33,986 ha (25,4%), productivity of 7,498 kg / ha; Coastal Plain with 27,244 ha (19.1%).
On the other hand, due to unfavorable climatic conditions, the Campaign region presents lower harvest numbers in relation to the last harvest.
