The rice harvest in Rio Grande do Sul reached 42.6% of the area, when they were removed 457,227 hectares of the 1,074,254 ha planned for this season. The information was released today (05) by Rio Grande do Sul Institute of Rice (Irga).
Currently the total productivity in the state is 8,156 kilos per hectare and 3.7 million tons have already been harvested.
Among the producing regions of the State, the West Frontier continues to be the most advanced until the period, with 196,556 ha (61.6%) of harvested area, productivity 8,366 kg / ha, followed by the regional ones of the South Zone, with 64,812 ha (37 , 6%), yield 8,313 kg / ha; Coastal Plain with 50,218 ha (37.5%).
According to Ivo Mello, the regional coordinator of the Fronteira Oeste, agronomist, two factors are important for the advancement of the harvest in the region: climatic conditions and planting at the recommended time.
According to Mello, the forecast of the end of the harvest in the region is May 10. The expectation regarding the climate is normal until the end of the harvest.
