RS: Even with drought, grain harvest should be one of the biggest in history

The summer grain harvest in Rio Grande do Sul should total 30.2 million tonnes. Even with the drought scenario in the State, this result indicates that agricultural production will be among the three largest harvested by the Gaucho producers, bringing gains R $ 27 billion in the economy. The data are from Emater-RS.

Mesmo com estiagem, safra de grãos deve ultrapassar 30 milhões de tons no RS

Emater’s production estimates indicate a 9.16% reduction in total production of the main summer grains: rice (-1.76%); beans (-8.82%); corn (-23.82%) and soybean (-7.83%).

However, Emater points out that these are preliminary figures. That because important crops, such as rice and soybeans, had a low percentage of area harvested during the data collection period. And the advancement of the harvest may or may not confirm these numbers. In addition, the drought affecting some regions is still ongoing, which may have more severe consequences than those recorded so far.
