SC wants to invest in export-type milk

With a 6% increase in production each year, the state of Santa Catarina wants to seek more space in the foreign market. However, according to the Department of Agriculture, so that the product is capable of supplying the international market, the sector has great challenges, going through the cost reduction and logistic organization of the production chain.

Among the obstacles to be overcome are: improving the quality of milk, especially the solids content; eliminate diseases of the herd such as brucellosis and tuberculosis; increase production efficiency and reduce costs.

Currently, milk is the fastest growing agricultural activity in Santa Catarina. Involving 45 thousand producers throughout the state, production turned in around 3.4 billion liters in 2017 – an increase of 8% over the previous year.
